Vanity and Informational blogs, Mod. 4

www.taxinfoblog.com - a blog about taxes. This blog answers questions about taxes, both general ones and ones specifically asked by followers. It also provides links to useful and pertinent information outside the website, and doubles as a business blog as well.

www.jasondunn.com - a personal blog about Jason Dunn's life. He posts videos and pictures about his life, where he's traveled, and currently about the development of his 9-month old son. (The last post was a video of assisting the boy to 'walk'.)

A good vanity blog would be one which viewers would feel engaged in the blogger's life. Followers must feel as if they actually know the blogger. A good informational blog would have very little focus on anything personal, would go into detail about the main topic, and would stay on topic.

Informational blogging definitely supports journalism-type blogging. A vanity blog, while enjoyable to read, only supports journalism blogging indirectly. Vanity blogs bring support and awareness of the blogging world to web users who may not be as aware of blogging, and can lead them to a journalism blog.

This strongly supports my thesis (5).

  1. Good. Would you come back and read these? Is the tax blog helpful as a resume?
