www.huffingtonpost.com - This e-zine included a variety of news from around the world, from events on China to humorous commentary on the President.
www.publicradio.org/columns/marketplace/mpblog/ - This blog talked about life in general for the writer, as well as events worldwide and how they could or currently are affecting people.
The e-zine felt more professional, but the blog brought the news to a personal level. Both felt equally credible. They both covered the same type of events, although the e-zine had more. A blog that is written professionally would have the level of credibility as any other news source. The bonus side of a blog is the personal touch of a single speaker to an audience, perhaps an audience they may know of personally. An e-zine or a traditional news source would have the advantage of multiple staff members to bring in more news.
This somewhat supports my thesis (4). A blog, written by a single person, can cover only a limited number of events, but it can bring another perspective on the events they do cover. While blogs are unlikely to replace the regular media, they do offer a chance to enhance on the news.
