Overall, I think blogging does impact journalism. While one such as a vanity blog does not do so directly, it does so indirectly by bringing awareness of blogging to more of the general public. Vanity bloggers also are able to mention a professional blog, thus increasing the audience of journalism blogging. An entrepreneurial blog is a bit weaker for one affecting journalistic blogging, as its purpose is to bring attention to the bloggers products and the use of those products, as well as information that would be useful to the customers. Informational blogging is probably the strongest. While it is not necessarily journalism, it attracts audiences that are willing to look around for information and would likely be interested in other blogs about similar subjects.
Blogging has a large number of uses, and it is something I personally enjoy. I think using it as a journalism tool is useful, and it opens avenues for 'citizen journalists' to have more of a voice.
